Finding a Certified Physician & Our Role

How do I find a certified doctor?
Physicians must complete special training and be certified by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners (ALBME) to recommend medical cannabis. The ALBME will begin certifying physicians once the first dispensary license is issued by the state.

We’re here and getting ready.
Alabama Integrative Health & Wellness is preparing now. Our providers are completing the required education and aligning our practice with all state guidelines so we can offer certified, compassionate evaluations as soon as the program is fully active. Once the state publishes its official list of certified physicians, we will be on it.

What does your clinic do?
We serve as your guide and advocate. Our certified providers conduct the required medical evaluation, diagnose qualifying conditions, and provide the official recommendation to the state. We handle the paperwork, help you register, and offer ongoing education and support so you can use medical cannabis safely and effectively as part of your wellness plan.

Program Status & Products

What’s the latest on dispensaries in Alabama?
The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission is actively rolling out the program. The first dispensary licenses have been awarded, with several locations scheduled to open in early 2026. We stay up-to-date on all developments and will help you navigate the process as it moves forward.

What kinds of medical cannabis products are allowed?
For patient safety, Alabama law permits specific non-smokable forms. Approved products will include:

  • Tablets, capsules, and lozenges

  • Tinctures and oils

  • Topical gels, creams, and transdermal patches

  • Nebulizers and liquids for inhalers

  • Suppositories

Please note: Raw plant material, products for smoking or vaping, and food items like candies or baked goods are not permitted under Alabama law.

Caregivers, Costs & Next Steps

Do I need a caregiver?
If you are under 19, a registered parent or legal guardian must act as your caregiver. Adults may also choose to designate a caregiver—such as a spouse, grandparent, or someone with medical power of attorney—to assist with purchasing and administering medication.

How much does it cost?
There are two separate costs:

  1. Physician Consultation Fee – This covers your medical evaluation and certification with us. We offer clear, upfront pricing for new patient visits and renewals.

  2. State Card Fee – Alabama will charge a separate application fee for processing your patient or caregiver registration and issuing your physical card. This fee is paid directly to the state during your application.

I still have questions. Can I speak with someone?
